On October 11-12, 2024, the III CENTRAL ASIA CONGRESS OF UROLOGY (CACU24) was held in Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan.
At CACU24, speakers from Austria, Germany, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan presented 15 reports on new methods of diagnosis and treatment in oncological and neuro-urology, as well as urolithiasis, facilitating an exchange of experiences and opinions among specialists. The minimally invasive urology section featured 15 presentations from speakers from Austria, Germany, and Kazakhstan regarding advancements in innovative high technologies in urology, addressing issues related to conservative and surgical treatment of urinary system anomalies, reconstructive procedures, and minimally invasive interventions for urolithiasis.
CACU24 was organized by the CACU organizing committee, which included representatives from both neighboring and distant countries: Austria, Germany, Russia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. The congress was attended by over 1,000 participants online and offline.
CACU24 brought together many leading specialists in the field of urology from Austria, Morocco, Germany, Russia, Qatar, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, as well as related specialists such as gynecologists, reproductive specialists, and urologists. More than 60 oral and 12 poster presentations were made during the congress, along with 7 presentations at the Satellite Symposium.
The main objectives of the international and organizing committee of CACU24 are:
To coordinate scientific research, medical-diagnostic, educational, and outreach work, and to exchange experiences among specialists from Central Asia, Europe, and Russia for the benefit of public health;
To facilitate the exchange of opinions among scientists from Central Asia and to discuss new, sometimes experimental data in an open format, involving renowned scientists and practitioners from various countries;
To recognize the III Central Asia Congress of Urology CACU24 in Kazakhstan as a scientific platform for collaborative cooperation among specialists from different countries.
At the congress, a competition was held for the best oral and poster presentations, with voting by all participants through a QR code. Substantive and relevant reports on pressing issues related to the diagnosis of urological and oncological patients, as well as conservative and surgical treatment, were presented and discussed by speakers from Qatar, Australia, Iran, Turkey, Russia, and Kazakhstan.
An important achievement of the CACU24 congress was the unification and exchange of experiences among specialists from different countries and disciplines in the field of health protection and medical care. To further achieve the set goals and objectives, all congress participants unanimously accepted the following forms of cooperation:
Organizing and conducting joint international forums and conferences;
Exchanging experiences and conducting joint scientific research and educational activities in the field of urology;
Collaborating in providing informational and consulting services in the scientific field;
Long-term active cooperation with the European Association of Urologists (EAU), including conducting the European School of Urologists within the framework of CACU and the participation of Central Asian urology specialists in the annual EAU congresses, among others.
Within the framework of the congress, a round table was organized with the heads and representatives of urological services from the regions of Kazakhstan, where current issues regarding the organization of the urology and andrology services in Kazakhstan were discussed. This round table aims to improve urological care for the entire population of Kazakhstan.
